Using the Leads Feature in Renterra

Learn how to use the Leads tab to find prospective customers and projects through Renterra. This feature is currently in Early Access, reach out to your Account Manager to learn more!

Leads Overview

Leads is a new prospecting feature built directly into Renterra. It automatically finds nearby businesses and active construction permits around each of your branch locations, scores them for fit, and lets you convert a lead into a customer profile in one step.

There are two parts:

  1. Prospects tab: local contractors and businesses near the customer's locations

  2. Permits tab: active building/project permits filed nearby

How the Prospect Tab Works

The list populates automatically once per month, on the 1st.

Each Prospect includes:

  • Info about the company (business details, how long they've been around)

  • Contact information - pulled from public filings, so there's a real person to call, not just an address

  • A fit score from 0–100 with plain-language reasoning

How scoring works:

  • Matches the customer's inventory to the type of business the lead is

  • Considers the prospect’s business and offerings against what the customer rents

  • Factors in the prospect’s business maturity (how long they've been around)

Note: The score reasoning can be found in the expandable "Hot tip" section. Click the name of the customer to expand.

Convert to customer: You can convert a prospect straight into a customer profile from the prospects tab. This de-dupes against existing customers.

How the Permit Tab Works

This list populates automatically twice per month, on the 1st and the 15th. Note that not every business will have findable permits nearby each cycle.

Each permit lead includes:

  • Location, project size, permit type, and filed date

  • Permit holder, contractor, and project contact details from public filings

  • Some permits post a job value and usually a description. We use the description to infer what equipment the project probably needs

  • A rental estimate matched to the equipment the customer actually has, averaged out from their own rates

Permit scoring follows the same logic as lead scoring, plus:

  • Bigger contracts score higher

  • Longer-term contracts score higher

  • Closer contracts score higher

Convert to customer: Same one-click conversion with de-dupe as the Prospects tab.
