How do I set up integration with QuickBooks Online?

You may wish you sync your Renterra ledger with QuickBooks Online. In order to do so, please follow the steps below.

You will only be able to follow the steps below if you are an Administrator for your organization.

Connecting your QuickBooks Online Account with Renterra

  1. Select the "Analytics" Tab from the left hand side.

  2. Under "View Ledger," select "Integrations."

  3. Press the "Authorize" button for Quickbooks.

  4. You will then be prompted to log into your QuickBooks online account to connect the account with Renterra

  5. Once authorized, you will be able to "Edit Mappings", "Enable Automation", and view the "Transaction History"

You will need to re-Authorize once every few months, the next Authorization date will be written underneath "Summary."

Setting up your account mappings from Renterra's Ledger to your QuickBooks Online Chart of Accounts

It is important to set up your mappings correctly before you start using Renterra extensively or enabling automation with your QuickBooks Online Account

Renterra has a number of General Ledger accounts (e.g. Rental Revenue, Sale Income, Cash, Check). By default, these accounts will be mapped to newly created QuickBooks Online accounts (e.g. "Rental Revenue" --> "Renterra - Rental Revenue")

  1. You may, however, wish to change the default Mappings (e.g. you may wish to map "Cash" and other payment methods to "Undeposited Funds" to assist with reconciliation

  2. To edit the Mappings, click "Show Details" in the "Mappings" section

  3. Press the pencil icon next to the Ledger account you wish to change under "Edit Mapping."

  4. Use the drop down to determine which QBO Account you'd like the Renterra Ledger Account to line up with (these will automatically pull in accounts from your QBO chart of accounts)

  5. Press Submit in the top right hand corner to update the mapping!

Enabling automatic nightly syncing between Renterra and QuickBooks Online and viewing the Transaction History

  1. Under "Automation," on the right hand side of the page, you can select "Enable Automation."

  2. Once Automation is enabled, a sync will occur each day at 3AM EST -- this will create a single Journal Entry in QuickBooks Online summarizing the prior days transactions

  3. These Journal Entries in Renterra are viewable in the Transaction History section. If you want to understand the specific ledger transactions involved in a Journal Entry, you can select "Renterra Ledger Entries" next to the entry. Later, if you wish to Disable Automation, this button will be in the same spot.
