When looking at Unpaid vs. Paid Invoices, you may see the word "Receipt" and wonder how that differs from "Invoice."

Definitions of Invoices and Receipts

  • Invoice: This is a document indicating to the Customer how much is due and when. It will list out the items, relevant charges, and any notes that are sent to the Customer

  • Receipt: This is what the Invoice turns into after it has been paid. You will be able to see the payment method and date of payment at the bottom of the invoice.

What can you do with an Invoice?

  • Invoice: You can Process Payment directly on an Invoice, send it to the Customer via email or text. If needed, you can also Edit or Void this Invoice.

  • Receipt: You can send a Receipt to the Customer via email or text. You will also be able to see the payment method and date of payment. This Receipt will not be able to be edited.
