Primary Contact vs Point of Contact

When managing customers and orders, it's important to understand the difference between a Primary Contact and a Point of Contact. These terms may seem similar, but they serve different purposes in the customer and order management process.

What is a Primary Contact?

A Primary Contact is the main point of contact for a customer. This contact is visible from the Customer page and is the default Point of Contact for an Order. This means that any communication or updates regarding the customer's account will be directed to the Primary Contact.

What is a Point of Contact?

A Point of Contact is the person to reach out to for any Order related matters. This contact is specific to a particular order and is not necessarily the same as the Primary Contact. This means that if a customer has multiple orders, each order will have its own Point of Contact.

What is the difference?

The main difference between a Primary Contact and a Point of Contact is their role and scope. A Primary Contact is responsible for managing the overall customer relationship, while a Point of Contact is responsible for managing a specific order. Additionally, a customer can only have one Primary Contact at a time, but can have multiple Point of Contacts for different orders.

It's important to note that a Primary Contact and a Point of Contact can be the same person, or they can be different contacts at the same company. This allows for flexibility in managing customer relationships and orders.

Now that you understand the difference between a Primary Contact and a Point of Contact, you can effectively manage your customers and orders. If you have any further questions, please don't hesitate to reach out to our support team for assistance.
