Creating Quotes and Reservations

When creating orders in Renterra, you will have the option to either "Create Quote" or "Create Reservation." Depending on your needs, you may wish to choose one over the other. In this article, we will discuss the differences between Quotes and Reservations and how to create them.

What is a Quote?

A Quote is a preliminary stage in the rental process that outlines the estimated costs and terms for a potential rental. It allows the customer to review and decide whether to proceed with the rental. While creating a Quote, you will still be able to edit billing and logistics, as well as add notes.

What is a Reservation?

A Reservation is a commitment to securing the requested equipment for a specific time frame. It marks a more advanced stage in the rental process. Similar to a Quote, you can also edit billing and logistics and add notes while creating a Reservation.

Differences between Quotes and Reservations

While Quotes and Reservations may appear very similar, there are a few key differences:

1. A Quote will not block the availability of the items on that Order, but a Reservation will show the items as unavailable over that time period.

2. While you can convert from a Quote to a Reservation, you cannot convert a Reservation back into a Quote.

3. You can "Swap Customer" during the Quote phase, but once it is a Reservation, that Customer is locked in.

Renterra allows you to create a Quote or Reservation directly from the New Order screen. Simply select the option you prefer and fill in the necessary information.
